About
I'm Jonathon.
I like understanding how things work, especially when a process is messy, repetitive, or harder than it needs to be.
A lot of my background is in operations: running projects in the field, coordinating crews and subcontractors, building inventory and tracking systems, writing the documentation, and figuring out why a system failed when it mattered. That work taught me to look at the whole system before looking at any single task. Most problems live in the handoffs.
That way of thinking pulled me toward software. A tracking spreadsheet becomes a dashboard. A repetitive process becomes a script. A research routine becomes a product idea.
I learn mostly by building. When I hit something I don't know how to do, my instinct is to research it, prototype something, break it, fix it, and understand the system better afterward. The Build Log is where that process shows up.
Right now I'm building across automation, sales technology, web development, content systems and business software, including a website for Woodfox Roasters, a small coffee roaster I care about more than is probably reasonable.
How I work
- Understand the problem. Who has it, and what does it cost them?
- Understand the process. How does the work actually happen today?
- Find the friction. Usually a handoff, a duplicate step, or missing information.
- Design the system before writing code.
- Prototype, test, improve. Small, real, then better.
What I bring
- Operations and project execution
- Workflow and process design
- Inventory, tracking and Excel-based systems
- CRM systems and customer data
- Requirements gathering and documentation
- Root-cause troubleshooting
- Python, web development and automation

Build something
Have something you want to build?
An idea, a messy workflow, a site that should work better. If it's a real problem, I'd like to hear about it.
