Building Woodfox Roasters, Version One
First version of the Woodfox site. Hand-built HTML and CSS, a hero video, product photos, and a lot of commits moving one logo around.
The first Woodfox site went up in early March. Plain HTML and CSS, one page, a hero video, product photos, an events section and a custom domain.
Looking back at the commit history is humbling: a dozen commits in a row adjusting the header logo. Make logo larger. Center logo. Lower logo slightly. That’s what happens when there’s no design system. Every decision gets made by nudging pixels.
What worked: it shipped, and the domain was live.
What didn’t: every content change meant editing markup, and the copy didn’t say much beyond “good coffee.”
Both of those turned into the brief for the later rebuilds.
