Rebuilding My Portfolio
Replaced a one-page static site with a content-driven site built around projects, a build log, writing and experiments.
The old site was one HTML page: a hero, a row of tool names, three project cards. It said what I’d used, not what I’d built.
The rebuild is on Astro with four Markdown collections (projects, build log, writing, lab), each with a typed schema. Adding this entry was one file.
Two decisions I care about:
- Status everywhere. Every project is marked Live, Building, Prototype, Experiment or Concept. Unfinished work is worth showing, as long as it’s labeled honestly.
- Demos use sample data, and say so. The dashboards and CRM prototype exist to show interface and workflow thinking, not to imply customers.
